In the spring we got the exciting news that we were going to be an aunt and uncle. As soon as they told us they were expecting, we started working on planning our trip out to visit them because we were not going to miss the opportunity to take their maternity photos! A few weeks ago we got to take a little time off to go visit them in their home in San Bernardino, California.

San Bernardino is nestled right in the mountains of southern California AND much to our excitement, lacks that Midwestern humidity! We had an amazing time hiking, exploring, and taking a little break for a few days. The evening before we were catching a plane to head to Hawaii, we went on one more hike to capture their maternity photos.

Since they spend so much time exploring the area, we actually just described the type of location that would make for a good sunset spot and left the rest up to Kelsey & Andrew. And MAN did they do well! We had no idea where they were taking us, and honestly, it was really exciting to be preparing to work with a surprise location. As we finally made the last turn before coming to the clearing my brother had been planning on, we were amazed. I think you’ll see why as you go through the photos, but the location was a perfect spot to see the city below, the mountains all around us, and sunset towards Los Angeles.

Another exciting thing about this maternity session, as if it needs anything else, is that Andrew and Kelsey were our very first wedding couple! They took a chance on us way back when we started and we will be forever grateful to them and can’t wait to capture so many happy moments throughout our lives with them!

We’re are so excited to welcome our little nephew in September and then hopefully learn how to be parents by January when we welcome our little guy!
