Libby & Tyler have amazed us over the past few months. When COVID-19 started cancelling events and causing uncertainty in just about everything, we started reaching out to our 2020 couples. We wanted to let them know that we were here to support them as much as possible, would be as flexible as we possibly could be, and that we were deeply sorry this is happening to them.
Sure, there are worse things that could happen. But, for most of our couples, there is over a year of planning going in to wedding day. There is managing of schedules, budgeting, saving, and so much more.
Our 2020 couples may have had rain back-up plans in their minds but I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted having to make tough decisions about wedding day because of a pandemic. When Adam and I saw how many couples were going to be impacted and were trying to navigate what that would mean, we were in awe of how well our wedding couples faced the adversity and uncertainty surrounding their days.
Libby and Tyler had to decide between a few tough options: Do they cancel their plans? Do they reschedule?
Do they limit their guests?
They decided to take a hybrid approach. We celebrated an intimate wedding with them on their original date and will celebrate a larger party with them again in 2021. What amazes me, if even with these hard decisions, they pulled it all together so well and with positivity. Their wedding day was stunning and full of emotion. They were surrounded by their wedding party, family, and pup. They decided a pandemic wasn’t bigger than their love for each other and they said “I Do” under a beautiful tree.
I’ve learned a lot about adapting and overcoming from this couple and our other “COVID-19 couples”. It’s such an honor to tell stories as beautiful and meaningful as these.
