Planning an al fresco wedding can be a dreamy affair, but it comes with its own set of challenges. As luxury wedding photographers and videographers, we’ve seen it all and created our list of Best Tips for Outdoor Weddings.

Here are our best tips for outdoor weddings to ensure your celebration goes off without a hitch:

Weather Backup Plan: Even in the calmest climates, weather can be unpredictable. It’s crucial to have a solid backup plan. This can include renting tents, arranging an indoor alternative, or even embracing the rain with style. Incorporate elements of your backup plan into your overall design so that it doesn’t feel like an afterthought. For example, choose tent decor that matches your wedding theme or have elegant umbrellas on hand for guests.

Sunset Timing: Al fresco celebrations can have a magical atmosphere, especially if you plan the major events of the day around sunset. The soft, golden light provides the perfect backdrop for your ceremony, first dance, and toasts. Be sure to discuss the timing with your photographer and videographer to capture those stunning sunset moments.

Comfortable Seating and Shading: Ensure your guests are comfortable by providing ample seating and shaded areas. Consider the sun’s position throughout the day and set up your seating arrangement to avoid direct sunlight during the ceremony. Providing fans, parasols, or even a cooling station can make a huge difference

Sound System: Outdoor spaces can be tricky when it comes to acoustics. Our best tip is to make sure you have a reliable sound system for the al fresco portions of your celebration so your vows and speeches can be heard clearly by all guests. Test the system beforehand to avoid any technical glitches on the big day. Your DJ will be able to help you here!

Bug Control: Depending on the season and location, bugs can be a nuisance. Have a plan to keep them at bay, such as citronella candles, bug spray stations, or hiring a pest control service to treat the area before the event.

The best tip we can give you, though?

Hire a wedding planner! A wedding planner will think of all of this for you so you can be present and just focus on enjoying being engaged and getting married. When it comes to best tips for a perfect wedding day, wedding planners are always going to be at the top of the list!!!
