Shades of Pink: A Dreamy Editorial Wedding Shoot at The Armour House

On March 27, 2024, we had the pleasure of attending an extraordinary editorial wedding photoshoot at The Armour House at Lake Forest Academy, hosted by Alyssa, the brilliant owner of Northwest Weddings in Chicago. This event allowed us to connect with fellow wedding pros while also immersing ourselves in a day filled with stunning details and vibrant shades of pink.

A Historic Setting: The Armour House

This editorial wedding photoshoot began with wide shots of The Armour House, a venue that has been in business since 1982, providing a timeless backdrop for weddings. Its historic charm and beautiful grounds were the perfect canvas for this editorial shoot. The light and airy interiors of the venue stood in contrast to the bold pinks of the table settings and floral designs, making for truly captivating photos.

Styled Details: Invitation Suites and Table Designs

We started the day photographing flat lays of the invitation suites, some featuring beautiful illustrations of the Armour House itself. The attention to detail was impressive, and it set the tone for the rest of the shoot. The mix of modern and vintage elements in the table settings, paired with vibrant florals, felt perfectly at home in the historic venue. Every detail was meticulously curated, from the crystal glassware to the bright pink florals that adorned each table.

Perfect Portraits: Models, Light, and Editorial Setting

The models were simply stunning as we moved into portrait shots. We began with the first couple posing by the beautifully arranged tables, capturing their natural chemistry. Next, we took advantage of the stunning natural light flooding in from one of the venue’s large windows for bridal portraits. The grand staircase provided a more dramatic setting, and the resulting photos were nothing short of breathtaking.

A Modern Twist: Moody Pink and Black

The second table setup featured a bold mix of pinks paired with black accents, creating a moody yet modern aesthetic. This juxtaposition of colors added depth to the historic space, and the striking contrast brought a fresh energy to the photos.

Outdoor Elegance: The Perfect End to the Day

As we moved outdoors, the grounds of The Armour House provided a picturesque setting. The sunshine played beautifully with the landscape, creating shadows and highlights that added texture to each shot. The combination of the venue’s greenery and the soft, romantic hues of the decor created the perfect ending to a perfect day.

Every detail of this shoot, from the pink florals to the custom signage and decor, was carefully planned and flawlessly executed. We were honored to be part of this stunning editorial and are excited to work with Alyssa and the incredible team of vendors again in the future.
